Laara E. Yaghujaanas, M.A.

Laara E. Yaghujaanas, M.A.
Laara E. Yaghujaanas, M.A., is the founder and owner of Carden Consulting, established in 1997. As a member of the yaghu ‘jaanas clan of the Haida Nation, she carries her great-grandmother’s name, “Kun G aadaas.” Laara’s deep connection to her culture informs her work and dedication to serving First Nations. With a master’s degree from Royal Roads University, Laara has been recognized for her contributions to the field, receiving the Royal Roads University Founders Award. She is a CTT Certified Consultant (Level 2) and has completed the Justice Institute’s Conflict Resolution and Negotiation course. Laara is also an active member of various organizations, including the Council of Native Development Officers (CANDO) and the New Relationship Trust Economic Development Support Team. As an Advisor for the Indigenous Business Awards, she champions the growth and success of Indigenous enterprises.
Mark F. Salter

Mark F. Salter
Mark F. Salter joined Carden Consulting in the summer of 2017 as both a business and life partner to Laara. With over ten years of experience working with First Nations, Mark specializes in management services and developing intergovernmental partnerships. His commitment to community development is evident in his work, which focuses on maximizing benefits for First Peoples in accordance with UNDRIP, DRIPA, and FPIC. Mark has completed the Justice Institute’s Conflict Resolution and Mediation Program and has been recognized by the Capital Regional District and Lieutenant Governor General for his Environmental Leadership, benefiting the regions of Southern Vancouver Island. He is currently pursuing his AIP3 Certification with the International Association of Public Participation Practitioners, further enhancing his expertise in stakeholder engagement and community participation.
