Laara Yaghujaanas holds a Masters Degree from Royal Roads University, was awarded the Royal Roads University Founders Award, has completed the Justice Institute Conflict Resolution and Negotiation course, is a CTT Certified Consultant (Level 2), a member of the Council of Native Development Officers (CANDO), a member of the New Relationship Trust Economic Development Support Team, an Advisor for the BC Indigenous Business Awards.
A key component of Laara’s work has been the purposeful planning to enhance the capacity, and self-determination of First Peoples, through community owned research and tools. Carden Consulting‚ indigenous methodology and approach has proven in strengthening the self-determination and development of First Nations and their organizations throughout BC. Due to COVID19 Carden Consulting has invested in updated systems and software and is proud to offer our clients on-line engagement with leadership, administrative teams, members, and partners to continue the important work of Nation Rebuilding.
Our team offers a Zoom Meeting Space that can integrate with most on-line software (e.g. Skype, GotoMeeting, etc.). Our team also has set up a small studio that includes an ability to share live critical facilitation elements such as meeting materials (PPT’s, agendas), that is supported with an on-line moderator to share live on-line inquiries and questions. Our team also has the capacity to record, transcribe on-line meeting notes.
Finally, our team also has the capacity to develop tailor made on-line interviews or training videos that can interface with live on-line engagement to increase understanding, participation, and quality.
Finally, our team remains committed to serving our First Peoples for the interests of current and future generations and this commitment to continual improvement will remain a part of our service delivery for the long-term to better serve.
Mark Salter joined Carden Consulting in the summer of 2017 as Project Consultant after a working with the Songhees Nation to achieve their goals of developing successful intergovernmental partnerships. Mark is committed to empowering First Nations effect positive change for the benefit of future generations, and has strong values of respect, integrity, excellence and community responsibility. A key component of Mark’s work has been the purposeful planning to enhance the capacity, and self-determination of Aboriginal peoples.
Mark’s family has worked successfully with local First Nations for several generations on Vancouver Island. Throughout the course of his work Mark has a developed wide variety of skills that has helped him to develop intergovernmental partnerships (e.g. Justice Institute Conflict Resolution and Mediation Program), and has been recognized by the Capital Regional District and Governor General for Environmental Leadership benefitting the regions of Southern Vancouver Island.
